Building a Positive Birth community

So becoming a mummy for the first, second or more times we need to ensure we have a positive and strong community around us, to support us, to nurture us and to makes us be our best for ourselves and our babies. A place were it feels safe, were we can learn and grow and where we learn what it is to birth a baby, what it is we can do in the process, what our babies do to join us and what it is we can let go of. Fear is a massive factor of pregnancy and birth, by reducing it simply creates space to be free, fun and super excited. Lazy Daisy Birthing brings all those things… I was positively staggered at a response from some previous LD mummies this morning when asked to let someone thinking of doing classes what they got out of it… this was there answers lets all spread how it is we can ‘do’ birth. Just so you know not all these births were your average, easy births they all came with there journeys but its how we remember and respond that is the lasting impression for you of your birth and for your baby, live into the awesome moments (there is always some) it might just change your life!

‘Absolutely fantastic!! Great for relaxation, stretching, ante natal information and encouraging baby in to the correct position for birth. I didn't do the classes with my first and had a section due to baby being breech. I did the classes from 26 weeks with my second and had a wonderful natural VBAC delivery. Highly recommended! X’ Steph, Mum to Holly and Katy

‘Yes I did them with my second baby and I agree with Stephanie above, great balance of yoga and talking in the group about all kinds of things, Gemma who runs the classes is fab. Good luck!’ Nuala, singer and mum ;)

‘I really enjoyed the LD classes (Brighton). My labour was fast and intense - I know that without the LD classes I would have been a little scared. The classes taught me to trust my body - it knew exactly what to do on the day! I also found the relaxation techniques invaluable for the final couple of months of pregnancy.’ Denise, mummy to Roscoe

‘Without the LD classes (I started going at 25 weeks and continued until I was 2 weeks over due I loved them so much!) my birth experience would have been very different. I learnt a lot about 'active birth', relaxation during labour, breathing techniques and the all important 'escalator breath' (my saviour!), all of which I had no idea about before starting the classes. My labour and birth was extremely calm, stress free, empowering, and totally amazing thanks to Gemma Clifford! I would urge anyone who is pregnant to get in touch with a LD teacher. These classes should be compulsory! X’ Julie, Mummy to Bethany

‘I started going at around 23 weeks and loved it! I'd been to some other yoga type classes and they just weren't for me. LD is a great balance of education, stretching, breathing and relaxation - perfect if you are still working! I went to a class the night I went into labour and am sure it's what got my contractions moving! Used the breathing techniques and relaxation and managed to get to fully dilated with just that and a tens machine! Would definitely recommend it.’ Marie, Dylan’s mum

‘I loved the LD classes! Really educational - better info than the nhs classes and delivered in a fun and interesting way. I felt understanding my body really helped in the labour and the breathing techniques were amazing and I couldn't have coped without them. Laboured mostly at home (was 9 1/2 cm when got to hospital) and then just had gas and air. I would start the classes earlier if I have another baby!’ Kalee and baby Logan

‘I went to Lazy Daisy classes with my second child from 26 weeks. I loved them and I had a blissful home birth with no pain relief. If I have any more children I will definitely use them again, and I have sent three friends to them.’ Kat, mummy to Ellis and Eden

‘I went to LD when expecting my second baby and loved the classes. We had a very calm home birth and found the LD breathing very helpful. Plus I made some great friends at the classes - definitely recommend’ Lynsey second time mummy with Tadhg

‘Gem you are a star, without you my pregnancy would have been a lot more stressful, my birth would no doubt have been longer and more chaotic and my early motherhood a bit more daunting. You have given me many blessings, including wonderful new friends for me, Gary and Jack. Never doubt how much of a difference you make or how much we all appreciate you x’ Tracy, Mum to Jack

‘I would 100% recommend LD classes, I started when i was about 30 weeks with my first baby & loved every session. I liked it because as someone who didn't want to start yoga or Pilates late into pregnancy this offered me everything I was looking for and actually more. The relaxing sessions every week really allowed me time to focus on what I wanted from my birth experience & how to work towards achieving it. The breathing techniques got me through (with some g&a!) and I can only look back at the birth with positivity & I thank Gemma Clifford from LD for all the coaching & support. Go for it & good luck! Xx’ George and baby Dexter
